Cowgirl Equestrian Closed Out Regular Season in Second

Oklahoma State's women's equestrian team dropped to second place in the region on Sunday after finishing second at the West Texas A&M Western show in Canyon, Texas.
"The girls rode really well, but there was one division where we didn't score any points," head coach Larry Sanchez said.
The Cowgirls entered today's show with a six-point lead over Texas A&M, but the Aggies jumped ahead of OSU in the team race after recording a first-place finish with 31 points. OSU finished in second with 24 points, while Kansas State finished third with 23 points.
"It's frustrating to lose but more so by one point," Sanchez said. "We are still striving to meet our goal of sending two teams to Nationals, but we need to focus on regionals and zones and see what happens."
Freshman Cheryl Adamson qualified for regionals by recording a first-place showing in her class, while junior Jenny Myles qualified for regionals with her first-place showing on Saturday. Sophomore Ryan Read also qualified for regionals on Sunday.
Freshman Leslie Hill and junior Emily Hoaglan finshed second in their respective classes, while sophomore Chrissy Meeks recorded a first-place showing in the Open division.
Freshman Kayla elmenhorst recorded a second-place finish in Reining and Open, while senior Kate Thomas also finished second in Open.
The Cowgirls will return to action on March 9 as they travel to Canyon, Texas, to compete in Regionals.
