Oklahoma State's women's equestrian team had four riders record first-place victories en route to a second-place finish at the first of two Western shows at West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
"It was a good competition today," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "We are still happy to be in the lead. We have a six-point lead heading into the final show tomorrow. If we come out with the overall lead then we are regional champions."
Freshman Leslie Hill and junior Matalie Hoefler were one-of-four Cowgirls to take home first, while freshman Cheryl Adamson and senior Casie Cavanaugh finished second in their respective classes.
Junior Jenny Myles and sophomore Chrissy Meeks placed first, while freshman Lindsey Childress placed second.
"I told the girls that they need to keep on riding well tomorrow so we can come home as the Regional Champions," Sanchez said.
OSU enter the final show of the year tomorrow in first with 148 points, while Texas A&M is in second with 142 points. Kansas State (125) and West Texas A&M (120) enters the show in third and fourth, respectively.
