Cowgirl Softball Announces Fall Recruiting Class

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team added five players during the fall signing period it was announced today. Five high school seniors; Shianne Cruce, Jessica Hoppock, Jennie Killman, Shanel Scott and Courtney Totte will join the Cowgirls for the 2003-04 season.
"This is one of the best classes that has come through Oklahoma State," said Head Coach Margaret Rebenar. "They are very smart academically and that shows on the field. All of the girls have an understanding of what it takes to compete at this level will add something to the program immediately."
Cruce, a native of Claremore, Okla., was an all-conference and all-state selection her senior year. The third baseman and catcher was also named the 2002 Metro Lakes Conference Player of the Year.
"Shianne will add depth to the catching staff and power to our hitting lineup," said Rebenar. "She is a very strong young lady and will be a solid utility player for us."
A native of Haysville, Kan., and Campus High School, Hoppock was a 2002 all-state selection. The standout pitcher was a three-time Arkansas Valley League first-team selection and was named the league MVP in 2002. Hoppock compiled a 0.65 career earned run average and threw an impressive 285 strikeouts in 22 games during her senior season to finish her career with a 13.5 K's per game average.
"Jessica further enhances our pitching staff," stated Rebenar. "She has the strength and endurance to make an immediate impact on the mound and we expect great things from her."
Killman, a product of Yukon, Okla., lettered four years at Yukon High School and earned all-state honors her senior season. She also played basketball for two years.
"Jennie will help us out at first and third," said Rebenar. "She has the potential to be factor in the hitting lineup and is very athletic and has great instinct for the game."
A native of Enid, Okla., Scott's name is peppered throughout the Enid High School single-season record books. The outfielder holds the top spot for batting average (.533), hits (80), runs scored (59), stolen bases (52) and bases on balls (18). Scott was also a first-team all-conference, first-team all-region and all-state selection her senior year.
"Shanel will see time in the outfield," Rebenar said. "She is incredibly fast and instinctive on the bases and will bring additional speed to our team."
Totte, a Lawton, Okla., product lettered four years at Eisenhower High School. The catcher was an all-conference and all-region selection. She also played basketball for three years, earning all-conference and all-region honors.
"Courtney is a power-hitter from the left side," stated Rebenar. "She will see the bulk of the time at catcher and is expected to contribute immediately. "
