Oklahoma State Cross Country Runners Named Academic All-Big 12

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's and women's cross country teams had 19 runners named Academic All-Big 12 this week. OSU had 15 runners named to the first team, which requires a 3.20 grade point average, and four named to the second team, which requires a GPA between 3.0 and 3.19.
For the men, seniors Jon Cordes, Ben Lake, Ben Sigle, Derek Tate, and Trey Vernon were named to the first team, along with junior Jason Woolhouse and sophomore J.R. Lake. Junior Chris McWatters and sophomore Matt Thomson named second team selections.
The Cowgirls had eight runners named to the first team, including graduate student Siri Alfheim, seniors Laurel Cotlett-King and Alexandra Lindquist, juniors Lisa Bowles and Michelle Simecka, and sophomores Johnnie-Ann Kuykendall, Karin Nilsson and Sharalee Sparks. Sophomores Catherine Clifford and Joanna Fedick were second team honorees.
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will be in action on Saturday at the Big 12 Championships in Columbia, Mo.
