Equestrian Completes First Weekend of Shows

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Equestrian team finds itself in third place after its first weekend of shows. The Western team competed in three shows over the weekend at West Texas A&M University.
The Cowgirls finished third in the Saturday shows and second on Sunday. Oklahoma State earned a total of 58 points, placing the Cowgirls third. West Texas A&M has the lead with 66 points, followed by Texas A&M with 65.
"Working through some things in the first show, we rode well in the second show of the day and even better today," said head coach Larry Sanchez.
Oklahoma State had 13 women finish in first place and nine in second place. Three Cowgirls finished with two first-place finishes over the weekend. Junior Lindsey Welsch, sophomore April Peck and freshman Rosalyn Johnson each took home two first place finishes.
"I am really looking forward to the next two shows, being that they are at home," said Sanchez.
The Western team will next be in action on Dec. 7-8 in Stillwater. The Hunter team will open the season on Nov. 23 at Texas A&M University.
