Cowgirl Senior Finishes Fourth In Regional

TULSA, Okla. (OSU Athletics ) - After advancing to the fourth day of play at the Omni Hotels Women's Tennis Central Region Championships, Cowgirl senior Linda Faltynkova was defeated in semi-final action.

In the quarter-final round of main draw competition, Faltynkova battled Renate Stoop of Boise State, holding on to win, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Faltynkova faced regional champion, Alicia Pillay of Tulsa, in the regional semi-finals. After claiming an early lead, Faltynkova was defeated 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Faltynkova exited the tournament as the number four seed, the highest placement of any competing Cowgirl. Kate Vasylyeva finished the tournament, after exiting in the round of 16, in a seven way tie for the ninth seed.

The Cowgirls must now prepare themselves for the finale of the fall tennis season to be held in Dallas in November.
