Cowgirls Advance Through Second Day of Omni Hotel's Regional

In the beginning of the Main Draw, the Cowgirls fared very well against their competition. Seniors Linda Faltynkova and Kate Vasylyeva, as well as sophomore Ines Furtmayr all advanced to the Round of 32 after first round wins.
Faltynkova advanced by defeating Emily Haylock of Kansas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Vasylyeva battled from behind to defeat Sabrina Evers of Iowa State, 6-7, 6-1, 6-2.
Furtmayr was victorious against Leeza Khoudoirova of Brigham Young University, 6-3, 6-4.
Cowgirl junior, Katia Kolodynska was unable to hold an early lead and was dropped by Ia Zozrashvili of SMS, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Also beginning competition was the main draw of doubles play. In a closely played match, the team of Erin Pauchnik and Kate Vasylyeva was defeated, 9-8, by Gina Black and Heather Shelby of Air Force Academy.
The duo of Gorana Marsic and Zana Masnic was able to advance by defeating Paula Castilleios and Jenn Cremeiux of Nebraska, 8-4.
Competition will resume tomorrow and feature the main draw Round of 32 and the main draw doubles Round of 32.
