STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team announced the addition of two players at semester. Cami Carter and Ashley Grider will join the Cowgirls for the 2002 spring season.
Cami Carter is a junior right-handed pitcher from Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Salt Lake Community College for two years and Brigham Young University-Hawaii for one semester. At Salt Lake Community College, Cami posted a 17-7 record including 136 strikeouts. She was a two-time first team all-region honoree and earned Most Valuable Player honors one year. Cami also led SLCC team to a conference championship.
"Based on injuries to the pitching staff, Cami fills a vital slot in the pitching staff." said Head Coach Margaret Rebenar. "Cami was a standout pitcher at the junior college level and brings depth to our team. She has incredible work ethic and a strong passion for the game."
Ashley Grider is a junior from Lexington, Okla. She is transferring to Oklahoma State from Connors State College and will play in the middle infield for the Cowgirls. At Connors State, Ashley had a .488 batting average, with 80 hits in her two years. She also had a .695 slugging percentage and 27 runs batted in.
"Ashley will also add depth to our team this year. She will play in the middle infield and is expected to contribute immediately." said Rebenar. "She posted great numbers at Connors State and will play an impact role this season."
Oklahoma State opens the spring season with a scrimmage on Feb. 2 vs. Northeastern Oklahoma at Cowgirl Stadium. The regular season kicks off with a road trip to Arlington to compete in the UTA Classic Feb. 8-10.
