Cowgirl Softball Wins Three in Fall Mini-Classic

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State won three softball games here Saturday, defeating Carl Albert State College, Neosho County and Central Oklahoma, as the fall season wound down at the Cowgirl Fall Mini-Classic. Central Oklahoma went 2-1, Neosho County 1-2 and Carl Albert 0-3 in the tournament.
In the first game, OSU plated eight runs in the third after Ryan Realmuto put OSU on the scoreboard with a three-run home run in the top of the first. Sophomore Kara Wentworth threw five complete innings, giving up just four hits in the 12-1 win.
UCO scored two in the bottom of the first, taking a 2-1 lead on Stillwater native Julie Cyr's two-run homer to defeat Carl Albert, 3-1. The Bronchos added a run in the third on a solo shot by Terra Beachum.
UCO picked up its second win of the tournament with a 4-1 victory over Neosho County. Courtney Cole's two-run double in the fifth gave the Bronchos the win.
In the fourth game of the tournament, Neosho County scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take a 6-4 win over Carl Albert.
Oklahoma State scored 11 runs in the third inning of Game five, defeating Neosho County, 11-1. It was OSU's second run-rule of the day. The Cowgirls scored all 11 runs before Neosho was able to get an out in the inning. The inning was highlighted by Jenny Kipp's three-run home run.
In the final game of the tournament, Oklahoma State took a 4-0 lead into the fifth inning before surrendering a run for a 4-1 final score. Megan Carey and Calli Behmer hit back-to-back doubles to score the first run of the game, and a two-run homer by Realmuto in the third upped the score too 3-0. Behmer then knocked in Stephanie Hodges with a triple in the fourth. An RBI single by Shauna Perry in the fifth was all UCO could muster.
Oklahoma State finished 8-1 during the fall season, and will return to action on Feb. 2 when the spring season begins.
