Oklahoma State's women's soccer team opens the Big 12 portion of its schedule on Friday when it travels to Columbia, Mo., to take on the Missouri Tigers. The Cowgirls (4-3-0) will return home for a Sunday afternoon contest against Kansas. After opening the season with five consecutive wins, Mizzou has dropped its last two, losing 3-2 to Duke and 7-0 to North Carolina. Thus far, the two schools do have a common opponent, having both tangled with Drury. The Tigers defeated the Panthers, 6-1, 10 days after the Cowgirls dealt DU a 4-0 setback. Missouri is led offensively by an Oklahoma native, forward Adriene Davis. The sophomore from Edmond, Okla., has tallied 15 points on the season, scoring seven goals and tacking on four assists. In net, a pair of players, Stephanie Krawczyk and Megan Duncan, have pulled the load for MU. Krawczyk has a 2-0 record, including one shutout, in 203 minutes, while Duncan has a pair of shutouts on the season and a 3-2 mark in 427 minutes of work. Missouri won last year's matchup 2-0 and leads the all-time series 5-0-0. The Cowgirls will entertain Kansas on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex to wrap up the first weekend of conference action. KU enters the weekend fresh off a two-game road swing through the state of Florida. The Jayhawks (4-2-0) lost a 4-1 decision to Florida State before bouncing back to knock off Central Florida 2-1. Senior forward Hilla Rantala paces Kansas offensively, having scored seven goals to go along with one assist in six games. Meghan Miller has seen the bulk of time in goal for the Jayhawks, amassing 525 minutes and has a 3-2 record on the year. Kansas picked up a 1-0 win over the Cowgirls last season to take a 2-1-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Week in Review
The Cowgirls suffered a pair of 1-0 losses at the AT&T Wireless Soccer Challenge. OSU lost on Friday to Tulsa and to fellow in-state rival Oral Roberts on Sunday. Against TU, neither team was able to muster any offense until the game's 35th minute when TU forward Melissa McCormick was awarded a penalty kick. The senior took advantage, tucking her attempt inside the left post to provide the deciding goal. The Cowgirls turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, pinning the Golden Hurricane in its own end for much of the half. However,OSU was unable to take capitalize on an 8-3 shot advantage in the period. OSU also amassed nine corner kicks over the final 45 minutes while holding TU to none. Against Oral Roberts, the Cowgirls controlled the tempo and held the ball in ORU's half of the field for the majority of the game. However, they were unable to convert on any of their 17 shot attempts against a stiff Golden Eagle defense. Despite being outshot 10-4 in the first half, ORU managed to break through the OSU defense at the 25:25 mark. Midfielder Kris Bramlett fed forward Meghan Mitchell, who snuck a shot inside the right post to provide the game's only score. The Cowgirls also held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks by the end of the contest.
