Cowgirl Softball Sweeps Exhibition DH From Seminole State

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team swept a pair of exhibition games from Seminole State College this afternoon, winning game one, 2-1 in eight innings before picking up a 4-1 win in game two.
Angela Veronesi and Amber Annis combined to give up just four hits and no runs through seven innings of regulation before SSC scored in the top of the eighth using the international tiebreaker rule. With a runner placed on second, third baseman Monica Thomason drove in the go-ahead run.
Casey O'Neill was placed on second in the Cowgirls' half of the inning, and after a base hit by Jenny Kipp put runners at the corners, Summer Younk-Cazelle followed with a two-run hit to win the game.
Game two was more offensive for OSU, which scored two runs in the first and two more in the third. Casey O'Neill threw three shutout innings, giving up just one hit and three walks. Kara Wentworth came on in relief in the fourth and threw four innings, scattering three hits and picking up the save.
OSU scored its first two runs on a two-out double by freshman Megan Carey. Kipp led off with a base hit, one of three on the day, and stole second. Ryan Realmuto walked, preceding Carey's double.
The Cowgirls scored a couple of more runs in the third on two hits, a stolen base and three Seminole State errors.
Oklahoma State (4-0) will travel to Houston, Texas, this weekend to compete in the Spring Klein Tournament.
