Cowgirl Softball Announces Schedule

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State head coach Margaret Rebenar and her staff released the 2001-02 softball schedule this afternoon, and several competitive games highlight the slate.
The Cowgirls will open the 2001 fall season on Wednesday, Sept. 12, as OSU will host Northern Oklahoma College in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium. That will be followed by a two-day tournament, the OKC Shootout, at Don E. Porter/ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
OSU will host Seminole State in a doubleheader on Sept. 19 before traveling to Houston, Texas, to compete in the Spring Klein Tournament. The Cowgirls will conclude the fall season with the annual OSU Mini-Classic, Sat., Sept. 29, at Cowgirl Stadium. Teams scheduled to play in the tournament have yet to be announced.
Oklahoma State will open the spring campaign on Sat., Feb. 2, with a doubleheader scrimmage vs. NEO, followed that Tuesday by a twinbill scrimmage with Connors State. The Cowgirls will open the regular season in the UTA Intercollegiate in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 8.
OSU will play in three other competitive tournaments during the non-conference portion of its schedule. The Cowgirls will travel to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the Arizona State Tournament, as well as the Worth Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. The tournaments will conclude with the Speedline Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
Okahoma State will host several non-conference opponents at Cowgirl Stadium, including Creighton, Tulsa, Wichita State and NAIA-powerhouse Oklahoma City. Big 12 teams coming to Stillwater will be Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Baylor and Iowa State. The Cowgirls will travel to Kansas, Missouri, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Texas, as well as a non-conference game at Wichita State and at Arkansas.
Another highlight of the schedule is a two-day event in Oklahoma City. OSU will play national-powerhouses Arizona and Fresno State on back-to-back nights at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. U of A and FSU are consistently ranked in the top-five nationally.
