STILLWATER, Okla. - Margaret Rebenar, associate head coach for the past nine seasons and a member of the Cowgirl staff for 22 years, has been named interim head softball coach at Oklahoma State. She replaces Sandy Fischer, who left the position last week.
OSU Senior Woman Administrator and Associate Athletic Director Ann Baer made the announcement Monday afternoon, indicating that Rebenar's appointment would run at least through the end of the 2001-02 season.
"Margaret has been an integral part of the success of Cowgirl softball for the past 22 years and will provide consistency, not only for the returning players, but in recruiting," Baer said.
"I'm thrilled to have this opportunity," Rebenar said. "I know our players share the vision I have for this program to compete for conference championships and to get back to the Women's College World Series."
Rebenar, who has been at Oklahoma State since 1980, has served as associate head coach since 1993 and has been OSU's softball recruiting coordinator. The Phoenix, Ariz., native earned a master's degree in physical education from OSU in 1982.
