Stillwater, Okla. - Cowgirl softballer Lauren Bay has been named first-team All-Midwest Region, it was announced today, in a vote of the regional coaches. It is the sophomore's first naming to the all-region team.
Last week, Bay was named first-team All-Big 12 as a pitcher and designated player. She was also honored as a first-team Academic All-Big 12 member. The native of Trail, B.C., Canada, was 15-11 this season with a 1.25 earned run average. She was also the Cowgirls' leading hitter with a .300 batting average.
Bay is the first Cowgirl to earn first-team honors since 1999, when three OSU players were named. Jenny Kipp, a junior on this year's squad, was named second-team last year.
By being named to the all-region team, Bay is added to the list of candidates for All-America status.
