Cowgirl Tennis Loses Heartbreaker to Wake Forest, 4-3

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team was eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tennis Championships by Wake Forest, who picked up a 4-3 second-round victory on Sunday afternoon.
With the two teams deadlocked at three team points apiece, the match came down to the No. 6 singles battle between the Cowgirls' Ashleigh Dolman and the Demon Deacons' Aimee Smith.
Dolman captured the first set 6-4 and was up 4-2 in the second before Smith came storming back and claimed the set in a tiebreaker. The Wake Forest freshman took the third set 6-2 and improved WFU to 18-8 on the season while OSU closes out the season at 23-5.
The Cowgirls struck first in the match, taking two-of-three doubles matches to score the first point of the day. Linda Faltynkova and Katarzyna Kolodynksa remained perfect on the season at 26-0 after dropping Maren Haus and Smith, 8-5. OSU's other doubles win came at the No. 3 spot when Kate Vasylyeva and Dominika Olszewska registered an 8-5 triumph.
Wake Forest quickly pulled ahead by notching a pair of 6-2, 6-2 victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 singles positions from fourth-ranked Bea Bielik and 19th-ranked Janet Bergman, respectively.
The Cowgirls' Linda Fatynkova zipped to a 6-1, 6-4 win over the nation's 79th-ranked player, Maren Haus, to pull OSU even at two apiece. The Deacons' Jackie Houston downed Kolodynska 6-2, 6-2, while OSU's Kate Vasylyeva responded with a 6-2, 6-2 win of her own over Elizabeth Proctor to turn the focus to the dual between Dolman and Smith.
