Women's Tennis Gets By Kansas State, 4-3

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State's women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and took three-of-six singles matches from the Wildcats en route to a 4-3 victory on Easter Sunday at the DeBois Tennis Center.
"I knew coming into this match that it would be one of the most difficult matches of the year," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "This has been a big weekend for us and I am proud of the way the girls handled the pressure."
OSU's 17th-ranked doubles team of senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips and junior Ashleigh Dolman recorded their 14th victory by defeating Alena Jecminkova and Eva Novotna, 8-5, at the No. 1 spot, while junior Dominika Olszewska and sophomore Kate Vasylyeva defeated Hayley McIver and Paulina Castillejos, 8-4, at the No. 3 position.
Sophomore Linda Faltynkova and freshman Katarzyna Kolodynska downed Kathy Chuda and Petra Sedlmajerova, 8-1, improving their record to 20-0.
The Cowgirls' 65th-ranked Phillips defeated Jecminkova, 6-4, 6-4, to notch the second team point, while Olszewska defeated Sedlmajerova, 7-6, 6-3, at the No. 2 spot, earning OSU its third team point.
The Wildcats recorded its firs team point when Novotna snapped Faltynkova's ten-match win streak, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Kansas State tied the score at three when Chuda defeated Kolodynska, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 4 spot, and McIver outlasted Dolman in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
With the score tied at three, the match was decided at the No. 5 position, where Vasylyeva and Castillejos battled it out. Vasylyeva won the first set, 6-3, but dropped the second set, 6-3.
Vasylyeva bounced back from a second-set loss and defeated Castillejos, 6-3, in the third set. The victory clinched the win for the Cowgirls and kept her seven-match win streak alive.
The victory gives OSU sole posession of second place in the Conference and 17-3 record heading into next weekend when they travel to Iowa State and Nebraska.
