16th-ranked Cowgirl Tennis Slides Past 17th-ranked Baylor

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team won two-of-three doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches en route to a 4-3 victory over Baylor Saturday afternoon at the DeBois Tennis Center.
"I am amazed," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "I didn't realize that this team was capable of playing this well."
Baylor (17-5, 7-2) recorded the first victory of the day when Vida Mulec and Paola Stephen defeated junior Dominika Olszewska and sophomore Kate Vasylyeva, 8-4, at the No. 3 doubles position.
"It was a great win for us," Lubicz-Majewski said. "I am very proud of the way the girls handled themselves through the whole match. They played their hearts out and got the victory."
OSU's 17th-ranked doubles team of senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips and junior Ashleigh Dolman recorded the first victory for OSU by blasting Katja Kovac and Jahnavi Parekh, 8-5, at the No. 1 spot, improving their record to 13-4.
Sophomore Linda Faltynkova and freshman Katarzyna Kolodynska recorded their 19th-straight victory by defeating Karin Andersson and Frida Borjesson, 8-4, at the No. 2 spot, earning the Cowgirls the doubles' point.
Baylor evened the score up at 1-1 when 28th-ranked Kovac defeated Olszewska, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 2 position.
Faltynkova recorded her 10th-straight victory by upsetting 80th-ranked Mulec, 6-2, 6-1, to give OSU a 2-1 advantage over Baylor. WIth the win, Faltynkova improved to 16-2 on the year.
Baylor evened the score up at 2-all when Borjesson defeated Dolman at the No. 6 position, 6-4, 6-2.
OSU needed to win two of the three remaining matches to clinch the victory. OSU got its third point when 65th-ranked Phillips downed 29th-ranked Parekh, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 1 position.
Just moments after Phillips' win, Vasylyeva defeated Stephen, 6-4, 6-3, and clinched the win for the Cowgirls.
Baylor recorded its last point when Andersson defeated Kolodynska, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (1), at the No. 4 spot.
With the victory, the Cowgirls improve to 16-3 on the year and move to second place in the Big 12 Conference standings.
Oklahoma State (16-3, 6-1) return to action on Sunday as they host Kansas State at 11 a.m. at the DeBois Tennis Center, weather permitting.
