Cowgirl Softball Splits Border War

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team split a pair of games here this afternoon, losing to Arkansas, 3-0, before defeating Tulsa, 6-3, in the nightcap. Arkansas defeated TU, 10-1, to earn Border War honors with a 2-0 record.
Lady `Back pitcher Rachel Talley limited the Cowgirls to just three hits in seven innings, and Sand Springs native Jennifer Bottoms went 2-for-2 with an RBI in Arkansas' 3-0 victory over OSU.
U of A scored its first run in the sixth on an RBI single by Bottoms that scored Danica Howlett. Arkansas added two more runs in the seventh on just one hit and two costly errors.
In game two, the Lady `Back offense hit Tulsa starter Jenny Magill for eight hits and five runs in just 1-1/3 innings, as Arkansas took a 10-1 run-rule in the fifth inning. Stephanie Hunter, Howlett and Bottoms all had two hits apiece in the game. Heather Schlichtman threw five innings, giving up just one run on three hits while striking out five for Arkansas.
In the final game of the day, Cowgirl hurler Lauren Bay was one strikeout shy of her career record as she struck out 13 Tulsa batters en route to a 6-3 win. Bay gave up three runs on just two hits, walking four.
OSU catcher Ryan Realmuto went 3-for-3 in the game, including a solo home run, her third of the season. Bay also hit a homer, her second of the year, following Lezli Leathers' leadoff double.
Oklahoma State (20-17) will travel to Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to face the Nebraska Huskers in Big 12 Conference action. Game time on both Saturday and Sunday is slated for 2 p.m.
