Cowgirl Tennis Cruises Past Trojans 6-1

Oklahoma State's No. 27th-ranked women's tennis team upended Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday at the DeBois Center.
The Cowgirls swept all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory of the Trojans.
"The girls came back and played really well," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "At first they weren't hitting the ball hard, but they bounced back and started playing really well.
"These are tough matches to play because we are favored going in and they have nothing to lose, so they are looking for an upset," Lubicz-Majewski said.
OSU's No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Linda Faltynkova and freshman Katarzyna Kolodynska recorded the first victory for the Cowgirls, defeating Alejandra Lopez and Layla Tohme 8-3, while the 27th-ranked tandem of senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips and junior Ashleigh Dolman notched the first point for the Cowgirls by defeating Kelly Bucewicz and Vanessa Nieto 8-5 at the No. 1 position.
The No. 77-ranked Galoustova-Phillips led the Cowgirls at the No. 1 position by defeating Kelly Bucewicz 6-4, 6-2, while junior Dominika Olszewska blanked Layla Tohme 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 2 position.
At the No. 3 slot, Faltynkova continued her hot streak when she recorded her eighth victory of the year by defeating Montserrat Floces in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
Kolodynska led the bottom half of the lineup by running past Alejandra Lopez 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 4 position. Freshman Kate Vasylyeva followed suit by defeating Vanessa Nieto 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 5 position.
The Cowgirls return to action this weekend when they host Wichita State on Saturday at 2 p.m., and Southwest Missouri State on Sunday at 12 p.m at the DeBois Center.
