Twelve Cowgirls Advance to Zone Show

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Twelve members of Oklahoma State's Cowgirl equestrian team qualified to compete in the Zone 7 show at the Zone 7, Region 2 show Saturday in College Station, Texas.
In order to compete in the zone show, a rider has to place in the top three riders of her class at the regional show.
In the hunt seat show, Susie Reed was the regional champion in the intermediate fences class and Amber Burnett placed third in novice fences. Kristen Thomas was the reserve champion in the intermediate flat class.
Burnett added a second place finish in the novice flat class to qualify for regionals in two classes. Katie Thomas and Amber Higgins placed first and second, respectively, in the walk-trot-canter class. Jenny Myles placed third in walk-trot.
Stacey Sullivan placed third in reining in the western show. Ryan Read placed second in open horsemanship, and Kristen Thomas placed third in advanced horsemanship.
Kate Hayes and Erika Wint took the top two places in intermediate horsemanship, and Casie Cavanaugh, Tracey Remshardt, and Myles took the top places in beginner horsemanship.
The Cowgirls will be back in action for the Zone 7 show, held March 24 in Fort Collins, Colo.
