LAST TIME OUT
Oklahoma State was shut out for just the fourth time this season, and Wichita State hit two home runs as the Shockers defeated OSU, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon at Wilkins Stadium in Wichita, Kan. The loss broke the Cowgirls' 57-game winning streak over WSU, dating back to 1978. Oklahoma State got five hits, including two doubles, but failed to score a run. The Cowgirls had a scoring opportunity in the second, with runners on first and third with two outs. But, a ground out ended the inning. In the sixth, Ryan Realmuto hit a double with one out, but Nicci Quiroz, a pinch runner, was thrown out trying to advance to third on a groundout by Angela Veronesi. In the seventh, OSU had runners on first and second with one out thanks to two Shocker errors. However, freshman Sarah Chamberlain struck out pinch hitter Lezli Leathers and Lauren Bay popped up to third base to end the threat. ?Wichita State put the first run on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Lisa Clary hit a full-count pitch over the leftfield fence, hitting the scoreboard. The Shockers added two more runs in the sixth on a two-run homer by Andi Kleckner. Both home runs came off Cowgirl starter Tiffany Paper.
