Oklahoma State's 27th-ranked women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over Wichita State on Saturday at the DeBois Center.
With the win, the Cowgirls move to 8-3 on the season, while the Shockers fall to 1-5 on the year.
Sophomore Linda Faltynkova and freshman Katarzyna Kolodynska recorded their 7th consecutive victory to improve to 10-1 on the season. The duo thumped Kelli Clark and Martina Stojikic, 8-1, at the No. 2 position, while junior Dominika Olszewska and freshman Kate Vasylyeva glided past Sarah Beth Dangos and Cherise Stein,8-2, at the No. 3 position to notch the Cowgirls first point.
"The windy conditions made it hard to play," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "This is a good stretch of matches to play before we go to Tulsa. We can't overlook any team at any point of time. But this will give us confidence heading into next week."
OSU's 27th-ranked tandem of senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips and Ashleigh Dolman battled back from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Amanda Cervantes and Annelie von der Heever, 9-7, at the No. 1 spot.
"I told the girls they must take Wichita State seriously, " Lubicz-Majewski said. "They fell asleep at times but battled back and got the victory. I didn't like seeing them have to battle back like that but they got it done."
Senior Cameron Stoudt dropped the first set 3-6, before coming back to record her first victory of the season by defeating Cherise Stein, 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-3), at the No. 6 position. Sophomore Erin Pauchnik also recorded her first victory of the season when she defeated Martina Stojikic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
The Cowgirls travel to Oak Tree on Sunday to take on Southwest Missouri State at 9:30 a.m.
