OSU Baseball Routs UC Riverside 17-0

YUMA, Ariz. - Oklahoma State's baseball team wrapped up an impressive three-game weekend with a 17-0 win over UC Riverside on Sunday afternoon at Desert Sun Stadium.
Coming off a 16-run performance Saturday night, the Cowboys (3-0) scored in all but two innings while collecting 22 hits on the day. UCR was unable to retire the Cowboys in order until the ninth inning.
Junior Nebasett Brown got the Pokes on the board in the first inning when he scored on a wild pitch by Highlander starter Chris Smith. Junior Rob Watson extended the lead to 2-0 in the second with a single.
Brown struck again in the fourth inning, singling in two runs to give OSU a four-run lead.
Junior Jake Bollig came all the way around from first base to score on an errant pick-off attempt in the fifth inning to increase the Cowboy. OSU added three more runs in the sixth inning, making it an eight-run cushion.
OSU followed with a seven-run outburst in the seventh inning and tacked on a pair of runs in the eighth to close out the game's scoring.
Jos? Virgil drove in the Cowboys' 16th run of the game with his fifth hit of the night. The sophomore finished with a 5-for-6 performance at the plate, driving in a pair of runs and scoring three times.
Cowboy freshman Scott Baker (1-0) picked up the win for the Cowboys. The Shreveport, La., native worked five innings and allowed only two hits and one walk.
Smith, who was chased after four innings, took the loss for UCR.
OSU will hit the road again next weekend as they travel to Florida for a series of games against Boston College, Florida Atlantic and Miami (Fla.).
