Cowgirls Win LSU Hunt Seat Show

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Oklahoma State's Cowgirl equestrian team picked up its first win of the spring season as they won both shows at the Louisiana State Hunt Seat Show today.
The Cowgirls scored 36 points in the first show and 32 points in the second. These scores marked the highest team scores of the season for OSU.
"I'm very happy with our team's performance. We gained 11 points on regional leader Texas A&M in the team scores," assistant coach Suzanne Flaig said. "We performed well."
In the first show, Allysa Allen won the intermediate fences class. Katie Thomas was the advanced walk-trot-canter champion, and Beth Brady won her section of the walk-trot class. Tracey Remshardt also won her section of the walk-trot class. Amy Noble added a win for the Cowgirls, placing first in beginning walk-trot-canter.
Ashley Bramlett won the open fences class in the second show. Katie Thomas added another win the in the advanced walk-trot-canter class, and Kelli Combs was the novice flat champion.
Two Cowgirls also qualified for the regional show over the weekend by scoring 35 points on the season. Susie Reed qualified for regionals in intermediate fences, and Trista Armstrong qualified in the intermediate flat class.
The Cowgirls will remain at home this weekend to host three western shows. The first show will begin Friday at 3 p.m. at the Animal Science Arena.
