Galoustova-Phillips falls in first round at Rolex National

Oklahoma State senior Maria Galoustova-Phillips lost in the first round of the Rolex National Indoor Championship to the No. 9 nationally-ranked Jewel Peterson of USC Thursday.

Galoustova-Phillips lost to Peterson in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.

"It was a tough match, but it was good for her to get some good matches under her belt" head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "This should benefit her later in the season."

Galoustova-Phillips will play Arizona's Michelle Gough in the consolation round on Friday.
