Cowgirls Look To Get Back On Winning Track Against Marshall

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team will put its home unbeaten streak on the line Friday when the Marshall Thundering Herd comes calling at 7 p.m. The Cowgirls (5-4) will be looking to bounce back from an 81-78 loss to Arkansas on Wednesday night and extend their non-conference winning streak at Gallagher-Iba Arena to 28 games. OSU came up short in Fayetteville despite shooting 50 percent (24-of-48) from the floor, including 7-of-8 from three-point territory, and outrebounding the Lady'Backs 33-27.
The Herd, 4-3 under first-year head coach Royce Chadwick, comes to Stillwater fresh off a 77-60 win over Robert Morris on Tuesday night.
Marshall possesses a balanced scoring attack with five players scoring at least 10 points per game. Junior guard Ida Dotson is the only MU player to start all seven games and paces the squad with 13.7 points per contest along with 21 steals and 23 assists.
As a team, Marshall is averaging 76.4 points per outing and is shooting 48 percent from the floor.
Friday's contest will be the first true road game for the Herd since Nov. 16, a season-opening overtime loss at American University.
The Cowgirls won the only previous matchup between the two schools, claiming an 84-78 win at the 1987 Holiday Classic in Orlando, Florida.
LAST TIME OUT
After falling behind by 12 points in the first half against Arkansas, OSU
came storming back to take a 43-42 halftime lead behind an 11-point outburst
from Thia Willis. The Cowgirls built the lead to 11 in the second half, but
were outscored 16-7 by the Lady'Backs over the final five minutes en route
to suffering an 81-78 defeat. Willis and Tari Cummings paced the Cowgirls
with 16 points apiece, while Trisha Skibbe recorded her first double-double
of the season (11 pts., 10 rbs.)
COMING UP
The Cowgirls will take part in the four-team Pepperdine Holiday Classic in
Malibu, Calif., on Dec. 28-29. OSU will square off with George Washington at
9 p.m. (CST) on Friday and will play either Brown or Pepperdine on Saturday.
The consolation game is slated for 5 p.m. (CST) and the championship game is
set for a 7 p.m. (CST) tip.
