Cowboys Tabbed Third In Preseason Coaches Poll

Stillwater, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowboy basketball team has been predicted to finish third in the Big 12 this season, it was announced today, in a vote of the league coaches. Each head coach ranked the 12 schools, excluding their own team.
Cowboy senior guard Maurice Baker was selected to the Preseason Coaches All-Big 12 Team, along with Kareem Rush of Missouri, Chris Owens of Texas and Kansas' Nick Collison and Drew Gooden. Cowboy senior Fredrik J?nz?n also received votes for the award.
Kansas was chosen to win the league with 126 points, including seven first-place votes. Missouri came in second with 111 total points and four first-place selections. Oklahoma State finished with 100 points, eight ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners, which received one first-place vote. Texas rounded out the top five with 85 points.
Oklahoma State will open the 2001-02 regular season on Friday, Nov. 16, as the Cowboys entertain nationally-ranked Cincinnati in a televised contest from Gallagher-Iba Arena.
