Cowgirls Roll Crimson Tide In Home Opener

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's soccer team earned its second consecutive win on Friday night, defeating Alabama 1-0 at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
With the win, OSU rose to 3-2 on the year. The Crimson Tide suffered its second consecutive loss and dipped to 3-2 on the season.
The Cowgirls controlled the ball for most of the first half, keeping the Crimson Tide pinned in their own end. In the game's 17th minute, OSU freshman forward Joanne Edwards broke through the Alabama defense and netted a cross from senior midfielder Andi Lute for the game's lone score.
On the play, the Crimson Tide lost goalkeeper Latonda Eubanks for the game after she collided with the post on her save attempt.
In a second half dominated by physical play, Alabama turned up the offensive pressure, generating several scoring chance deep in the Cowgirls' defensive end only to be turned away by sophomore goalkeepr Katharine Doud.
The Cowgirl netminder came up with several key saves en route to notching her second consecutive shutout. The Plano, Texas native has now posted shutouts in each of OSU's three wins.
The second half also saw a total of 25 fouls called and seven yellow cards handed out between the two squads.
The Cowgirls will return to action this Sunday when they host the TCU Horned Frogs at 1 p.m. in Stillwater.
