Cowgirl Softball Wraps Up Fall Season

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl softball team will wrap up the fall season this weekend at the KC Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri at Kansas City. OSU's first game will be Saturday at noon vs. Northwest Missouri State.
The Cowgirls will play five games in the round-robin formatted tournament. Other opponents for Oklahoma State will be Nebraska-Kearney at 2 p.m. and Jacksonville State at 6 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, the Cowgirls will play Central Missouri State at noon and UMKC at 2 p.m.
OSU is coming off a tripleheader sweep of the Seminole State Lady Trojans, improving the Cowgirls' fall scrimmage record to a perfect 14-0. Oklahoma State has been dominant this fall, both on the mound and at the plate.
Offensively, senior second-baseman Lezli Leathers leads the team with a .571 batting average and .893 slugging percentage. Four other Cowgirls are hitting .500 or better this season. Junior utility player Paula Garman is batting .536, and is second on the team in runs batted in with eight. Junior third-baseman Jenny Kipp is batting .500 and leads the team in runs scored with 14. Sophomore catcher Ryan Realmuto is hitting .500 and leads the team in both hits (18) and RBIs (18).
On the mound, sophomore ace Lauren Bay is 5-0 with a 0.29 earned run average this fall. She also has 29 strikeouts in just 24-1/3 innings pitched. Freshman Tiffany Paper is 6-0 this fall, has a 0.70 ERA and 28 Ks in 30 innings. Another freshman, Kara Wentworth, is 3-0 and has 13 strikeouts in 16 innings.
