Softball Sweeps Junior College Tripleheader

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's pitching corps gave up just one run in three games as the Cowgirls swept Seminole State in a tripleheader here Wednesday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium. OSU won by scores of 7-1, 8-0 and 1-0.
The Cowgirls won game one behind the fine pitching of sophomore ace Lauren Bay. The Trail, British Columbia, native threw four innings of hitless softball en route to her fifth win of the fall season. Meanwhile, at the plate, junior Paula Garman was lighting up the opposing hitters, going 3-for-3 with a run and two runs batted in. Junior Jenny Kipp with 2-for-3 with a run.
In the second game, freshman Kara Wentworth went the distance, giving up just four hits while striking out three in her third win of the fall. Sophomore Ryan Realmuto went 2-for-2 at the dish in the game, driving in two runs in the first.
The third game was much closer, with OSU picking up the 1-0 victory with the lone run being scored in the bottom of the fourth. The Cowgirls used back-to-back-to-back singles with one out to score the only run of the game. Stillwater-product Amber Annis, pinch running for Realmuto, scored on a base hit by Amy Campbell. Freshman Tiffany Paper struck out six Lady Trojan batters to pick up her sixth win of the scrimmage season.
Oklahoma State, now 14-0 during the fall, will wrap up the scrimmage season this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Kansas City, Mo., to compete in the UMKC Invitational.
