Oklahoma State to host Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State University will host the 63rd annual Cowboy Jamboree this Saturday, Sept. 30, at the OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowboy Jamboree is one of the nation's longest-running meets of its kind. The first meet was held in 1937. However, between 1940-45, the Cowboy Jamboree was put on hold because of World War II.
Many of the top teams in the country travel to Stillwater every year to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree. This year's meet features collegiate teams from approximately 43 schools. The all-day meet features races ranging from NCAA Division I to junior colleges to high school. Arkansas, which has the top-ranked men's cross country team in the nation, will compete in the Jamboree.
The first race will begin at 8:05 a.m. with the college/junior college women's 5K run. At 8:30 a.m., the college/junior college men will run in an 8K race.
The Cowgirls will be competing in the university women's 5K run, beginning at 9:10 a.m. The 17th-ranked Cowboys will participate in the university men's 8K race, scheduled to start at 9:40 a.m. The high school races will follow afterwards.
The following schools will compete at the 2000 Cowboy Jamboree: Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Bacone College, Baker University, Baylor, Bethany, Butler CC, University of Central Oklahoma, Colby County CC, Coffeyville CC, Dodge City CC, East Central University, University of Houston, Hutchinson CC, Kansas, LeTourneau University, McMurray University, McPherson College, Missouri Southern, Northwood University, Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Oral Roberts, Pratt CC, Sam Houston College, South Plains College, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Methodist, Southern Nazarene, Southwest Missouri State, Southwestern College, Southwestern Indian PolyTech, Texas, University of Texas-Arlington, Texas Christian, University of Texas-Dallas, Texas Tech, Tulsa, West Texas A&M and Wichita State.
Results will also be posted on the Internet (www.okstate.com) within the day.
