Oklahoma State's string of 17 straight non-conference wins at home ends
with tonight's loss.
OSU's last non-conference loss at home was a 24-21 defeat to TCU on
Sept. 21, 1991.
The Cowboy defense held Southern Miss to -7 yards rushing, tied for the
sixth lowest number in OSU history (-7 vs Iowa State Nov. 21, 1981).
Tony Lindsay's second-quarter interception was his first of the season
(42 attempts).
Lindsay's 53-yard run in the third quarter was the third longest of his
career. He had a 56-yard run in 1998 and a 55-yard scamper in 1997.
Redshirt freshman receiver Rashaun Woods first quarter reception was
the first of his career. He finished with three receptions for 16 yards.
Sophomore defensive tackle LaWaylon Brown's 57-yard fumble return was
an OSU lineman's first since Kevin Williams recovered a fumble against
Kansas on Nov. 13, 1999. Williams recovered the fumble in the endzone for a
touchdown.
Oklahoma State did not score a touchdown for the first time in six
games (Oct. 30, 1999 vs Texas A&M).
Kicker Seth Condley's 27-yard missed field goal in the third quarter
was his first miss of the season. He was six-for-six in 2000 prior to the
miss.
Marcellus Rivers six-yard reception in the third quarter was his 10th
straight game with a reception.
Tight end Khary Jackson recorded his first two catches of the season.
Tony Lindsay and Aso Pogi combined for a season-high 16 completions.
The Cowboys finished with a winning non-conference ledger for the fifth
straight season.
