Oklahoma State Quotes
Head Coach Bob Simmons
"In talking to the offense, obviously we did not feel like we had the kind
of field position that we needed to do the things that we wanted to do. We
talked about it at halftime and came back out and had better success at
moving the football.
"(Tony Lindsay's shoulder) tightened up on him. He got hit on it. He had two runs and came back and it loosened up.
"Southern Mississippi is a good football team. They did not make a lot of mistakes. They have a good defense. Obviously we knew that coming in. We knew that we had to execute a lot better than we did. I thought we would do that. I will have to go back at watch film and evaluate how we can get better, especially down in the red zone.
"Other than giving up in the third half, we had two really big passes. We stuck to the running game. We actually had a fake. So, there were some good points, and there were some points that we need to improve on, especially back in the secondary, at times.
"The big part of what we're trying to do is to really move the ball around. I talked about them not wanting to create bad plays. The second half, we talked about better field position. I'm hoping that we will get better."

On the red zone
"We had a problem in the red zone tonight. We've got to learn how to work in
there and then rebound and look forward to Texas next weekend. "
On what went wrong
"I believe they had nine guys in the box and that's a tough blitz scheme to
pick up. We need to work on our fundamentals. We all made some errors, but
we will be all right."
On Texas
"Texas is a huge game with the start of conference play. We're still a real
positive team around here. The loss hurts, but we have to keep our heads up
and look forward to the next game."
On missed opportunities
"We all missed opportunities. We had big plays that we didn't capitalize on.
We were down in the red zone four or five times, and we just didn't score.
We really need to work on that. Our defense played a great game. Now I just
hope our offense picks it up and capitalizes on what they give us.
Kevin Williams
On OSU's defense
"They told us to keep our heads up, and we went out there and gave it all we
had every play."
On Southern Miss' offense
"It wasn't anything we hadn't seen before. We'd watched film on them, and it
was basically what we expected. They just made plays."
Southern Miss Quotes
Head Coach Jeff Bower
Thoughts on His Team
"I told our players that I think this football team has done something that
no other has done, play three non-conference opponents on the road. I don't
know of anybody starting out tougher from a scheduling standpoint. I am
really happy with how we performed. I wish we had a few more plays back from
the Tennessee game, but our players got themselves ready to go. I thought
they did a heck of a job coming in here and winning a football game."
Thoughts on OSU
"I think we played a very good Oklahoma State team, where their defense is
quick. I wish them the best and I think they can go on and do some good
things. I don't know what happened to their quarterback, he hurt us when he
was in there running the football.
Thoughts on His Defense
"I think we are pretty darn good on defense. We let the quarterback make
some big plays and we made some big plays. We had a couple of picks that
were big in the ballgame."
Southern Miss Player Quotes
Defensive End Cedric Scott
On a Getting Ready to Play
"We have a lot of mentally-tough people. We have a lot of senior leadership
from the people on this team. They know what it takes to not be complacent
and get ready to play every week."
On OSU's Offense
"Out here in the Big 12 we don't see much of Oklahoma State. We really had
to study to get to know their personnel because we don't get to see them
play too much. Whatever they threw at us, we needed to be ready for it."
