BALTIMORE, Md. - Oklahoma State's doubles team of Ashleigh Dolman and Maria Galoustova defeated the country's eleventh-ranked duo to advance to the quarterfinals of the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships.
The Cowgirl tandem knocked off Kentucky's Carolina Mayorga and Sarah Witten 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to garner their first win of the season.
"I am very happy for the girls, it is a solid win to start the season," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "They played very well and will have to do the same tomorrow against another tough opponent."
Dolman and Galoustova, who entered the event ranked No. 20, will take on the nation's eighth-ranked team, Ohio State's Kristy Dascoli and Monica Rincon.
In singles play, Galoustova fell to No. 44-ranked Mira Radu of Mississippi in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
"Maria played a good, hard match," Lubicz-Majewski said. "She just ran into an opponent who was familiar with the clay surface and knew how to play on it."
