OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Oklahoma State's Stephanie Hodges provided two of the Cowgirls' three runs and Lauren Bay struck out 10 as OSU defeated Oklahoma City in softball, 3-0, here Friday afternoon in the Oklahoma Shootout.
Hodges acted as the decoy in a double steal in the second inning which produced the Cowgirls' first run. After Paula Garman walked, Hodges reached on an error, moving Garman to third. Garman then scored on a double steal with Hodges safe at second.
Following a base hit by Casey O'Neill, Hodges scored on a double-steal attempt to put OSU ahead, 2-0. In the fourth, Hodges, a Coweta, Okla., product, hit a two-out solo home run for an insurance run.
Lauren Bay, the Cowgirls sophomore ace hurler, provided much of the defense as she struck out 10 of the Chiefs in the time-shortened six-inning game. It was Bay's second win of the fall scrimmage season.
The Cowgirls, 4-0 this fall, will play Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at 6 p.m., followed by OSU vs. Southeastern at 8 p.m. on the Stadium Field.
