Women's Soccer (1-1)
This week: Friday vs. Mississippi (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)
Sunday at Louisiana State
Last week: Defeated Oral Roberts (1-0)
Lost to Tulsa (5-0)
On Friday, Oklahoma State's soccer squad defeated the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 1-0 to open the season. Cowgirl freshman Joanne Edwards' goal at the 19:22 mark of the first half proved to be the difference for the Cowgirls. A native of Liverpool, England, Edwards lofted a shot just over the outstretched hands of ORU goaltender Christy Chapman to provide the game's lone score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Katharine Doud was perfect for the Cowgirls, saving all seven ORU shots attempts.
Mercy Morrical and Andi Lute were named to the all-tournament squad.
OSU suffered its first defeat of the season, losing 5-0 to in-state rival Tulsa before 213 fans at the Edmond Soccer Complex on Sunday evening. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 1-1 on the season. With the win, Tulsa rose to 2-0.
The Cowgirls will return to action this weekend when they travel to Baton Rouge to take part in the LSU Invitational. On Friday, OSU will take on Mississippi and will conclude play on Sunday with a match against Louisiana State.
