Cowboys Sweep Series With 20-2 Rout Of Iowa State

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State pounded out 18 hits en route to a 20-2 run-rule win over Iowa State Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys swept the series over the Cyclones and won their sixth straight to improve to 33-18 on the season and 12-12 in the Big 12. Iowa State dropped to 16-35 overall and 6-21 in conference play.
OSU scored three runs in the second, eight in the third and six in the fourth to build a 17-0 lead. Luke Scott and Toby Rhodes connected on home runs in the fourth inning and Mike Lorsbach notched a solo shot in the fifth.
The Cyclones scored a run off Cowboy starter Mike Miller in the fifth when Ben Van Iderstine knocked a RBI single to center scoring Aaron Runk who reached earlier with a double.
Miller (1-1) picked up is first collegiate win, scattering seven hits over five innings and striking out a career-high six batters. Darren Heal, the Pokes reserve catcher, pitched a scoreless sixth inning in his first time on the mound for OSU.
Oklahoma State scored two more runs in the sixth to build the lead to 20-1 before Iowa State scored a run in the top of the seventh off a single by Joe Urban to finish out the scoring.
Four Cowboys had multiple-hit days led by Lorsbach and Rhodes who had four hits each. Luke Scott went 2-for-4 and Ronte Langs went 3-for-4 to aid the offensive barrage.
ISU starter Lincoln Minks took the loss to drop to 1-6 on the season. Aaron Runk, Ben Van Iderstine and Ryan Wickham each had two hits at the plate to pace the Cyclones.
Oklahoma State will be back in action Tuesday against Seton Hall at 7 p.m. at the Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. The two teams will play a second game Wednesday at 7 p.m. before the Cowboys host Texas Tech in a pivotal Big 12 series to end the regular season next weekend in Stillwater.
