Baseball Edges Seton Hall 8-6

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Nebasett Brown's 2-for-3 performance at the plate with four RBI helped lead Oklahoma State to an 8-6 win over Seton Hall Tuesday night at the Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark.
The Cowboys won their seventh straight game to improve to 34-18 while the Pirates dropped to 32-14 on the year.
Seton Hall jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI-double by Alfie Critelli that scored Ray Navarette from second base.
Jimbo McAuliff led off the OSU scoring in the first with a home run to left field and the Pokes added two more runs in the inning on a Rob Watson double to lead 3-1.
The Pirates tied the game in the third, taking advantage of a RBI single by Brian Leighton and a dropped fly ball by Carl?s Gautreaux in leftfield. Seton Hall then took a 4-3 lead in the fourth off a run-scoring double by centerfielder Mike Bascom.
Nebasett Brown hit a two-run single with the bases loaded in the fifth and Lance Smith followed with a sacrifice fly to right which gave OSU a 6-4 lead. The Pokes added two more runs in the eighth on another single by Brown and lead 8-4 before Seton Hall rallied for two runs in the eighth to cut the lead to 8-6.
Rusty Rushing came on in relief in the eighth to shutdown the Pirates and pick up his seventh save of the season. Reliever Clint Salisbury picked up his fifth win of the season after pitching three innings and giving up two runs on two hits while striking out two and walking three.
The teams will be back in action tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. Sophomore righthander Rob Watson will get the start for the Pokes.
