OSU Netters Receive Postseason Honors

DALLAS, Texas. -- The Big 12 Conference has announced its men's and women's tennis position champions for the 2000 season. Both Oklahoma State teams were well-represented on this year's squads, placing four runners-up apiece.
On the men's side, freshman Eru Lyndon placed second behind Texas' Michael Blue at the No. 3 position. The New Zealand native finished the season with a 5-3 record in Big 12 action, including an upset over Texas A&M's nationally-ranked Cody Hubbell.
At the No. 4 position, freshman Fran Krepelka captured runner-up honors with his 5-3 conference record. Krepelka finished his inaugural campaign with a 15-3 mark overall.
The Nos. 1 and 2 doubles teams for the Cowboys claimed second-place finishes as well. Lyndon teamed with Matt Prentice to post a 5-3 record that included an upset of the nation's second-ranked team, Texas' Michael Blue and Nick Crowell, at the No. 1 position.
At the No. 2 slot, Krepelka and Chris Bates finished the year with a 6-2 conference record and an impressive 15-3 ledger overall.
The Cowgirls also had two individuals and two doubles squads claim second-place finishes as well.
Freshman Linda Faltynkova finished the year with a 10-1 conference mark and a 19-2 record overall. The Czech Republic native was impressive in her initial season, claiming 16 of her 19 wins in straight sets.
Marketa Chmelova, the team's lone senior, concluded Big 12 play with a 7-4 record at the No. 5 position and a 14-6 mark overall.
In doubles, Faltynkova and Chmelova finished behind Nebraska's Katarina Balan and Maria Fernandez at the No. 2 position. The tandem wrapped up the year 12-6 overall and 7-4 in conference action.
At the No. 3 spot, Dominika Olszewska paired with Erin Pauchnik to place second behind Jahnavi Parekh and Monica Gonzales of Baylor. The Cowgirl duo compiled an 11-3 record overall and a 6-3 mark in the Big 12.
