Oklahoma State Defeats Purdue 7-6 In 12 Innings

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Carl?s Gautreaux's double in the bottom of the 12th inning scored Toby Rhodes from first with the game-winning run as Oklahoma State defeated Purdue 7-6 Friday night at Reynolds Stadium.
The Boilermakers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first before the Cowboys responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
OSU took a 4-2 lead in the second with a three-run inning sparked by a two-run double by Curt Anthony who later scored on a single by Jimbo McAuliff.
Purdue came back to tie the game in the fourth on a two-run single by Brad Kriner which scored Daniel Underwood and Kris Luce.
Roy York's two-run triple in the fifth gave OSU a 6-4 lead that would hold until the eighth inning. The Boilermakers tied the game with a RBI single by Kriner and a RBI fielder's choice by Chris Walker.
Rusty Rushing picked up the win in relief to improve to 1-0. Andy Helmer took the loss for the Boilermakers to fall to 2-1.
Jimbo McAuliff, Ront? Langs, Roy York and Carl?s Gautreaux each had two hits each to pace the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State improves to 29-18 with the win while Purdue drops to 30-16. The teams will close out the series tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Cowboys will then have the entire week off for finals before hosting Iowa State for a three-game conference series starting Fri., May 5 at 7 p.m.
