Sean Murphy's triple in the sixth inning scored Tommy Whiteman from first with the game-winning run as Oklahoma defeated Oklahoma State 7-5 at the Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark Sunday afternoon.
The Sooners swept the series and improved to 31-15 on the season and 14-7 in Big 12 play while the Cowboys dropped to 27-17 and 9-12 in league play.
OSU reliever Quenten Patterson was charged with the loss to drop to 0-1.
Jimbo McAuliff accounted for four of the five OSU runs with a 3-for-5 day at the plate including a two-run homer in the third which gave the Pokes a 3-2 lead.
The Cowboys will be back in action Wed., April 26 against Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Stadium. OSU will host Purdue for a three game series beginning Thurs., April 27 at 7 p.m.
Men's Golf

Oklahoma State men's golf student-athletes Charles Howell and Anders Hultman were announced Wednesday as Academic All-Big 12 honorees.
Howell, ranked ninth in the latest MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings and eighth in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, was named to the academic all-conference first team. The business major from Augusta, Ga., leads the Big 12 in stroke average (70.50) and is the top-ranked player in the league.
Hultman was named Academic All-Big 12 honorable mention. He is ranked 31st by Golfweek/Sagarin and 39th by MasterCard.
Both players will represent OSU as the Cowboys look to regain the Big 12 Championship on this coming Monday and Tuesday, April 24-25. The league tournament will again be played at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. The third-ranked Cowboys have been tabbed by the conference's coaches as the pre-tournament favorite.

Second place at Big 12 Championships
The West Texas winds dictated the scores on the final day of the 2000 Big 12 Conference Women's Golf Championships at the Lubbock Country Club as Oklahoma moved past second round leaders Oklahoma State and Texas to claim its first Big 12 Conference Championship.
The Sooners won the event by one stroke over OSU and three stokes over the third-place Huskers.
Big 12 Conference Player of the Year and 1999 defending champion Maria Boden of Oklahoma State finished in a sixth-place tie.
For Texas Tech, Priscillia Hunt (Phoenix, Ariz.) shot a three-round 226 to finish in a fourth-place tie with OSU's Emma Zackrisson.
The Cowgirls will not compete again until the West Regional Championships May 11-13 in Tempe, Ariz.
Softball (32-19, 7-9 Big 12)

The Cowgirls will return home to play Texas A&M this weekend after a tough week on the road last week.
Oklahoma State lost to Oklahoma and was swept in a doubleheader by Texas. OSU dropped to 32-19 on the season and 7-9 in Big 12 play.
Men's Tennis (11-7, 4-4 Big 12)

The 51st-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team suffered its first home loss of the season on Saturday, a 5-2 setback at the hands of conference foe Baylor.
The Cowboys, 11-7 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 play, were 4-0 at the DuBois Tennis Center entering Saturday's showdown with the fourth-ranked Bears. With the win, Baylor rose to 19-4 and 8-0 and captured its first Big 12 title.
Freshman Eru Lyndon and Jiri Jezek led the charge for the Cowboys, picking up wins at the Nos. 3 and 5 positions. It marked the second time this week the tandem was responsible for the Pokes' scoring against a top-10 team. The duo also posted wins against No. 7 Texas A&M on Wednesday.
However, Lyndon and Jezek won their matches in contrasting styles. Lyndon zipped to an easy straight-set victory over BU's Pawel Gajdzik, 6-0, 6-1. The win moved the New Zealand native to 9-8 on the year.
Jezek battled back after losing the first set 6-0 to even the score with a 7-6 decision in the second. He then took control in the third set, cruising to a 6-1 win to improve his record to 13-5 on the year.
The Cowboys will be back in action next week when they travel to Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament.
Women's Tennis (16-4, 8-3)

The 48th-ranked Oklahoma State women's tennis team collected their seventh conference win on Friday with a decisive 8-1 victory over the University of Colorado at the DuBois Tennis Center.
The Cowgirls, 16-4 overall and 8-3 in the Big 12, won all six singles matches. Freshmen Linda Faltynkova led the way with a 6-3, 6-2 win over CU's Nadine Kenzelmann, bringing her record to 18-2. On the season, Faltynkova has won 15 of her 18 matches in straight sets.
Senior Marketa Chmelova improved to 14-5 on the year after edging CU's Suzanne Bjorkman. Chmelova was down 5-2 in the third set and fought off a match point to close out her OSU career on a winning note.
Faltynkova and Chmelova continued to dominate the courts in doubles play with a solid victory over Buffaloes Nadine Kenzelmann and Maka Berzins. The victory brought Faltynkova and Chmelova `s record to 12-6.
The Cowgirls will travel to Kansas City on April 27 for the Big 12 Tournament.
Men's Outdoor Track and Field

Bank of Fayetteville Invitational
Chuck Sloan, a senior on Oklahoma State's men's track team, will be competing for the 3,000-meter steeplechase national championships once again after his performance in Fayetteville, Ark. Saturday at the Bank of Fayetteville Invitational.
Sloan won the event, completing the race in 8:42.37. He finished well ahead of his closest competitor, Joe Parks from Missouri Southern, who crossed the line in 8:50.36.
OSU's Ben Sigle finished the steeplechase with a time of 9:33.39, good enough for 11th place. Jerry Rainey and Trey Vernon finished 13th and 14th, respectively. Rainey ran the race in 9:40.86, while Vernon crossed the line in 9:47.61.
The Cowboys also took the two, three and four spots in the 5,000m run. Jon Cordes finished second in 15:25.94, and Ben Tickner was third with a time of 15:33.77. Gregory Rouault crossed the line in fourth in 15:48.31.
Next week the Cowboys will head to the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The relays begin Friday and continue on through Saturday.

The Cowgirls will travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays this weekend.
Oklahoma State has not competed since the Mt. SAC Relays and the John Jacobs Invitational April 14-15.
