Cowgirls Win One, Lose One In Red Desert Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Oklahoma State's 25th-ranked softball team lost to 11th-ranked Stanford, 5-1, then defeated Southern Utah, 9-1, in the second day of the Red Desert Classic here Saturday.
In the loss to Stanford, the Cowgirls scored just one run, in the bottom of the second. Meanwhile, the Cardinal was pounding out single after single, with nine base hits in the game. OSU freshman Lauren Bay had nine strikeouts in the loss.
In the second game, OSU had 13 hits, including doubles by Kirsty Jennings, Lezli Leathers and Casey O'Neill, as the Cowgirls blasted SUU, 9-1. Freshman hurler Karla Rivera had seven Ks in the game, and improved her record to 5-0.
Oklahoma State (12-4) will play host-school Utah on Sunday at 11 a.m. MST.
