Cowgirl Netters Fall to Texas in Conference Opener

EDMOND, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to the No. 8 Texas Longhorns at Oak Tree Racquet Club on Saturday.
The win extended Texas' conference winning streak to 100 matches and moved the Longhorns record to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in conference action. The Cowgirls fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 play.
The Longhorns dominated the singles bracket, winning five of six matches in straight sets. The lone exception came at No. 2 where top 100 players, OSU's Dominika Olszewska and UT's Janet Walker went the distance. Walker prevailed 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
The marquee doubles matchup came at the No. 1 position. OSU's Ashleigh Dolman and Maria Galoustova, ranked No. 35, dropped a 9-7 decision to Walker and Kaysie Smashey, the country's No. 6 ranked team.
The Cowgirls will return to action Feb. 27 against conference rival Texas Tech.
