Cowgirls Win Two In Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Oklahoma State used to run-rules to win two games here Saturday afternoon in the Southwest Missouri State Tournament. OSU defeated SMS, 8-0, before defeating Drake, 8-0.
The Cowgirls had some fine pitching on the mound, giving up just five hits in 12 innings. In the first game, freshman Lauren Bay started and picked up the win while striking out six Bears. Senior Sarah Knife Chief pitched the sixth inning for OSU.
At the plate, Lezli Leathers went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, and four others had two hits.
In game two, freshman Karla Rivera threw a three-hit, complete-game shutout against Drake. At the plate, freshman Kirsty Jennings went 2-for-2 with a double and a run batted in, while senior Shelly Graham had a double with two RBIs and a run scored.
Oklahoma State (8-2) will play Drake at 10 a.m., and conclude the tournament with another game vs. Southwest Missouri State at 2 p.m.
