Cowgirls To Open 2000 Campaign Saturday

STILLWATER, Okla. -The Oklahoma State women's tennis team will begin the 2000 season when they take on Texas-Arlington Saturday at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond.

A pair of Cowgirls got an early start on the season last weekend at the Rolex Indoor National tournament in Dallas. Sophomore Ashleigh Dolman and Junior Maria Galoustova were among the 16 doubles teams to qualify for the field and reached the event's consolation finals.

When OSU takes the court Saturday, there will be only one senior, Marketa Chmelova, in the lineup. She will be joined by two juniors, two sophomores and two freshman.

"We are very young, but the girls are excited to play and have been working hard," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. "They are a tough team with talented players. Our girls will have to come out ready to play."

Saturday's contest will be only the second-ever meeting between the two schools. The Cowgirls defeated the Mavericks last season 7-2 in Arlington.
