OSU Coach Bob Simmons
On the team's momentum
"I have to give our team credit. The kids came out and made things happen
for the first time in a long time. The defense gave us great field
position. We were up 17 to 20 points with ten minutes left to go in the
first quarter and the key was the keep the momentum going at the half, and
we did that. A lot of kids played. A lot of guys are smiling.
On Baylor's performance
"There's no way you can win by giving the ball up. I think their first two
drives, they gave up a fumble and an interception, which all led to points.
That's something that good teams need to do often throughout the season to
have an opportunity to win. I was pleased with the way that our offense
played. Obviously we wanted to get Reggie (White) 1,000 yards. We
accomplished that goal while winning the ball game.
On the team's performance
"I really feel like our players really focused in and made some good things
happen. I can't tell you if they had scored first what would've happened,
but I feel like we would have responded. I felt like their offense, and
even with what we were doing, had the opportunity to go down the field and
score.
On Aso Pogi
"Aso (Pogi) played well. He's a big guy. He's very strong, and he ran the
option and made good decisions. So, we took him out at the beginning of the
fourth quarter. He had a good game."
OSU Players
Aso Pogi
On the defense
"You have to credit the defense today. Defensively we played a really good
sound football game. We caused a lot of turnovers and it was easy for us,
even on our first score which was a one yard sneak. Credit the defense.
They played well all around. They gave us an opportunity to do something
when we got the ball."
On the offense
"It was nice, but it was not all about me. You have to credit the offense
and the offensive line. They really played a great game. Our wide
receivers and everybody played a great game. We were put into certain
situations and had to check, and they did a good job in picking up checks
and making everything right. So credit our offensive line, wide receivers,
and backs today."
Chris Carter
On how they got things started today
"We had a blitz called and I just got up on the tackle, and I tried to get
over so I could get to the quarterback. I saw the quarterback raise his
arm, so I told myself I am going to hit his arm instead of just tackle him.
He fumbled the ball at the one yard line so I just fell on it so the offense
could score."
On getting turnovers
"We practiced all week on getting turnovers because we have not gotten many
this year. We really stressed getting turnovers, and it happened for us
today. We were moving to the ball and hustling and good things happened as
a result."
Baylor Players
Free Safety Odell James
On the game
"I just wanted to come out and play a great game for the last game of my
senior year. We had so many turnovers in the first half that we had to fight
hard and try to get ourselves out of the ditch."
On turnovers
"It is especially tough when we turn the ball over inside the 20-yard line,
giving the defense a short field to work with. We had so many schemes we
were
going to run against the offense that it was hard being inside the 20."
On punt block
"I was definitely looking for the end zone. I broke one tackle and then OSU
started gang tackling me."
Running Back Darrell Bush
On ending the season
"Being a senior you want to leave on a winning note. Unfortunately, our
offense came out and started turning the ball over which led to our loss."
On gaining 100 yards
"I was more worried about winning. I don?t know how many yards I ended up
with. I was concentrating more on playing well for the team."
On scoring the touchdown
"It felt good scoring a touchdown in the last game of my career. The
offensive line helped me out a lot and I appreciate all those guys. With out
them I am not anything."
