Cowgirls Finish Third In Western Show

CANYON, Texas - Oklahoma State's Cowgirl equestrian team placed third in the first show and fourth in the second today at the West Texas A&M western show in Canyon, Texas.
The Cowgirls finished the first show with 18 points behind West Texas A&M and Kansas State. In the second show, Oklahoma State finished behind West Texas A&M, Texas A&M, and Kansas State, scoring 12 points.
"We learn a lot every time we go to a show," head coach Larry Sanchez said. "We have a month off between shows, and we are going to apply what we have learned in the next show."
In the morning show, Amber Higgins won her section of the advanced I western horsemanship class. Stacey Sullivan was the reining champion, and Alyssa Allen was the reserve champion in reining. Lindsay Laughlin placed second in advanced II western horsemanship, and Amber Henderson was the walk-trot reserve champion. Jenny Myles also placed second in intermediate I western horsemanship.
In the second show, Ryan Read led the Cowgirls as she won the open western horsemanship class. Amy Noble won the intermediate II western horsemanship class, and Laughlin placed second in the advanced II western horsemanship class. Casie Cavanaugh also placed second in the intermediate I western horsemanship class.
The Cowgirls will return to action Dec. 2-3 as they travel to College Station, Texas for the Texas A&M hunt seat and western shows.
