Equestrian Team To Open Inaugural Season

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's equestrian team will open its inaugural season Saturday at the West Texas A&M Show in Canyon, Texas.
The show is hosted by the University of Texas and will consist of two hunt seat shows. Competition will begin at 8 a.m.
The Cowgirls return six equestriennes from last year's club squad, including Chelsea Makloski, a two-time Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national champion. Also returning for the Cowgirls are several IHSA zone champions from last Spring. Allysa Allen finished first in the novice flat division and Lara Phillips was the zone 7 champion in the open pattern division. Makloski also won the walk-trot-canter and the intermediate stock seat competitions at the zone 7 show.
Several Cowgirls also won zone 7, region 2 championships last Spring. Sarah Hedrick was the champion in novice equitation over fences, and Phillips won the open reining division. Trista Armstrong finished first in the open western horsemanship competition. Makloski also finished first in intermediate western horsemanship.
The Cowgirls will travel to College Station, Texas Oct. 23-24 for the Texas A&M Show which will consist of three western shows.
