Women's Tennis Splits in Opening Weekend

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma States' women's tennis squad opened its 1999 spring campaign this weekend in Edmond with a pair of in-state battles.
The Cowgirls kicked the weekend off Friday, against the University of Central Oklahoma. OSU came out on fire winning four straight singles matches and sweeping doubles action, earning them a 7-2 victory.
On Sunday, the Cowgirls took on a very good Oklahoma City University squad. The Cowgirls were sent home with a 3-6 loss.
"This weekend gave me a good idea of what kind of a team we will be this year," head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski.
"Right now we are trying to overcome some illness and nagging injuries. Next week will be the first time we will have a full active roster."
Freshman Dominika Olszewska will return to the lineup after setting out the first two games while the NCAA investigated her eligibility.
The Cowgirls will be back in action February 20-21 when they travel to Dallas to face Texas Christian University and University of Texas-Arlington.
