Women Netters Win Tulsa Invitational Tournament

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's tennis started off its fall campaign with an impressive victory at the Tulsa Invitational Tournament.
In Flight I of singles play the Cowgirls occupied both spots in the championship game. Sophomore Maria Galoulstova defeated senior Martina Hautova by injury default to take the title. Galoustova defeated Erika Vasquez from Iowa State 6-2,6-1 to advance to the final. Hautova advanced when Tulsa's Anousika Van Exel withdrew dew to injury.
In Flight I of doubles competition the duo of Galoustova and Hautova fell short of winning the doubles crown losing to Tulsa's Jennifer Despain and Van Exel, 8-2.
Junior Marketa Chmelova placed fourth in Flight II defeating Kathleen Chuda from Kansas State, by a score of 8-5.
Sophomore Cameron Stoudt lost in the consolation finals to Marika Rhumboa from Iowa State, by a score of 8-5.
Senior Amy Kusch won the Flight IV consolation bracket with an 8-6 win over Wichita State's Selena Dangos.
"I was very happy with our girls performance this weekend," said head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. " We overcame some injuries and gained some experience which will help us next week in Arlington."
The Cowgirls will travel to Arlington, Texas for the UTA tournament Oct. 24-26.
